Woof woof! Planning a trip to Zandvoort with your four-legged best friend? Then you’ve picked the paw-fect destination. This beach town is a true playground for dogs — think sandy paws, salty noses and endless places to explore together.
Grab the leash, pack some treats, and get ready for a tail-wagging adventure. Here are 5 dog-friendly spots around Zandvoort that every pup and hooman should sniff out.
1. Zandvoort Beach
Let’s start with the obvious one: the beach. Zandvoort’s long sandy coastline is basically a giant dog playground.
Dogs love running through the sand, chasing waves, digging mysterious holes and collecting the best sticks they can find.
Between October 1 and May 1, dogs are allowed to run freely on most parts of the beach. During the summer season (May 1 – October 1), dogs are still welcome — but they can only run off leash before 9:00 AM and after 7:00 PM. During the day they must be on a leash.
Early morning or sunset beach walks are therefore extra magical for dogs and their humans.
Pro tip: bring a towel… because a wet dog is definitely part of the experience. Woof.

2. Doggy Beach House
Right in the heart of Zandvoort you’ll find Doggy Beach House — the most paw-some stop for every dog visiting town.
This is not your typical pet store. It’s a doggy experience filled with fun toys, unique gifts, tasty treats and products specially selected for happy and healthy pups.
Your dog can even visit the Doggy Bar for a snack or a cool dog ice cream. Because after a beach adventure… every good dog deserves a treat.
Woof approved.
3. The Dunes
The dunes around Zandvoort are beautiful for long walks with your dog, but it’s important to know that dogs are not allowed everywhere in the protected dune areas.
Some nature reserves do not allow dogs at all, while other paths require dogs to stay on a leash. Always check the signs at the entrance of the area before starting your walk.
Luckily there are still several walking paths nearby where you and your pup can enjoy nature together and sniff out new adventures.
4. Southern Dunes
Dogs who love making new furry friends will feel right at home at Losloopgebied Zuid.
This off-leash area near the dunes is perfect for letting your dog run freely, play with other pups and burn off some energy. Expect lots of wagging tails, playful zoomies and happy barks.
It’s basically a dog social club in nature.
5. Bloemendaal Dog Beach
Just a few minutes north of Zandvoort you’ll find a special dog beach in Bloemendaal where dogs are welcome to run free all year round.
This dog beach is located between beach pavilions Parnassia and Paal 69, and it’s one of the best places in the area for dogs who love running, swimming and making new furry friends.
Many locals and visitors with dogs head here for unlimited beach zoomies without worrying about seasonal restrictions.
Zandvoort truly is a dog-loving destination where wagging tails are always welcome. From beach zoomies and dune walks to a well-deserved snack at Doggy Beach House, there’s plenty to explore together.
